Milpitas, CA : This year Diwali came early for the Bay Area Indians in form of scintillating daylong event packed with Deepotsava presentation, Saree Fashion Parade, amazing Ramayana show, culture performances, dance competitions, engaging kids competitions and delicious food and sweet fest. Festival of Globe (FOG) Diwali, the Festival of Lights was celebrated at Indian Community Center on Saturday, October 28th, 2023. Diwali is one of the most pious and joyous festival celebrated across India and the world.

This year's FOG Diwali festival consisted of many unique exciting segments that attracted and enthralled packed Diwali venue. There was a constant line of people eager to experience the world class professional performances. Youth had a field day with multitude of activities such as Diya painting, Ramayana character play, and Rangoli contest. The festival had a huge kids’ section where they could play Ramayana related games, Try their hands on Rangoli and painting Diyas. This goes a long ways in introducing kids to Hindu culture and values. Deepotsava as an exciting hour long segment that started with special dance performance using Diyas and comprised of a showcasing of mesmerizing dances form India by 100+ performers. Another segment that generated huge excitement and interest was Saree Fashion Parade. It was a spectacular performance by 150+ ladies, adorned in beautiful sarees and representing over 20 cultures and state heritages. Diwali event also had over 1000 dancers performing traditional, classical and contemporary Indian dances and competing for the top prizes.

The unique ‘Ramayan Parivar’ performance by RungMunch was the show stopper of the event, with their professionals performing the scene of ‘Jatayu’ that enabled the Ocean crossing by Hanuman. Dignitaries and attendees were mesmerized alike by their performance and their ability to depict Ramayana values.

FOG Diwali Festival is the largest and most recognized event and attracted several local and state elected officials. Consul General of India Dr. Srikar Reddy, Fremont Mayor Lily Mei, Assembly member Alex Lee and several council members graced the occasion and conveyed their Diwali wishes.

Dr. Romesh Japra, FOG Founder, said that - FOG organizes large scale Diwali event to encourage our community and especially the kids to imbibe our Hindu values and enjoy the festivities while appreciating the richness of our culture.
